The difference between Category 6 unshielded box wire and Category 6 unshielded jumper

January 15, 2021

Category 6 unshielded box wire uses 4 winding pairs and 1 tensile wire with a cross in the middle. The color of the wire pairs is exactly the same as that of Category 6 twisted pair cables. They are white orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, Green, white brown and brown. Bare copper wire diameter is 0.57mm (wire gauge is 23AWG).
The six types of unshielded jumpers use 4 pairs of twisted pairs, which are also white orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green, white brown and brown respectively. The diameter of bare copper wire is 7/0.20 or 7/.016 or 7/0.12, and the diameter of UTP cable is generally 5.5mm.

The main differences between Category 6 unshielded box cables and Category 6 unshielded jumpers are as follows:

1). From the length of the two
Category 6 unshielded box cable is a box-by-box cable. There is no crystal plug at both ends of the cable, and it is generally 305 meters per box.
Category 6 unshielded jumpers have crystal heads on both ends, generally 1 meter, 2 meters, 3 meters, 5 meters, 10 meters, 15 meters, 20 meters, 30 meters, etc., and can be directly connected to the computer.

2). From the perspective of the two conductors
Category 6 unshielded box wire is a single-strand conductor with a size of 1/0.57 and can be made of pure copper and copper-clad aluminum.
Category 6 unshielded jumpers are stranded conductors, generally 24AWG, 26AWG, 28AWG, and can be made of pure copper and copper-clad aluminum.
Six types of unshielded box wires and jumper copper-clad steel conductors can also be made, but currently there are very few on the market.

3). From the perspective of both packaging
The six types of unshielded box line are generally a whole roll of a whole roll, each roll of 305 meters is placed directly in a suitable carton, or is punched.
Six types of unshielded jumpers are generally packed in PE bags, blister boxes or color boxes, and then packed in boxes.

4). From the scope of application of both
The six types of unshielded box cables are generally used for engineering and house decoration.
Category 6 unshielded jumpers are generally used to connect to computers, home and office, or for routers, HUBs, patch panels and cabinets.
