UTP and FTP

UTP Network Cable: Unshielded+Twisted+Paired (Unshielded) cable without metal shielding material and wrapped with only one insulating rubber layer. It is relatively cheap and flexible to install. It is suitable for networks with a transmission bandwidth below 250MHz and no special performance requirements. But too long transmission will lead to signal interference, and class 6 wiring is already the limit of UTP

FTP network cable: Foil shielded Twisted+Pair (Foil+Twisted+Pair), compared with UTP, it has more bandwidth, stronger anti-interference performance, but its cost is higher, and bending performance is slightly worse. STP: Independent Shielded Twisted+Pair. An aluminized layer is added to the core. Each Pair has one aluminized layer to reduce signal attenuation. There is also a metal braided shielding layer for every 4 pairs of wire, which has reached the structural standard of seven types of wire.

SFTP network cable: A twisted-pair twisted-pair cable, which adds a layer of braided network on the basis of STP. Commonly used for aluminum magnesium wire woven mesh, but also useful tin wire or tinned copper wire,
Make the transmission with anti-interference and highly confidential transmission, suitable for professional wiring engineering.

U/UTP twisted pair: that is, UTP twisted pair, unshielded twisted pair; F/UTP twisted pair: the total shielding layer is aluminum foil shielding, there is no wire pair shielding layer shielded twisted pair;

U/FTP twisted-pair: there is no total shielding layer, the wire pair shielding for aluminum foil shielded twisted-pair; SF/UTP twisted-pair: the total shielding layer is double screen + aluminum foil shielding, wire pair is not shielded twisted-pair double shielding;

S/FTP twisted-pair cable: the total shielding layer is screen, and the wire pair shielding is double shielding twisted-pair cable with aluminum foil shielding.
To sum up, there are not many types commonly used. In recent engineering, there are only
F/UTP and U/FTP. Among them, the recently used product of Detweiler company adopts the U/FTP structure. Now the differences between F/UTP and U/FTP products are explained.
F/UTP shielded twisted-pair, aluminum foil shielded twisted-pair (F/UTP) is the most traditional shielded twisted-pair. It is mainly used to isolate the 8-core twisted-pair from the external electromagnetic field, and has no effect on the electromagnetic interference between the lines. The F/UTP twisted-pair cable is covered with aluminum foil. That is, a layer of aluminum foil is laid on the conductive surface of the aluminum foil outside the 8 core wires and inside the sheath, and a grounding wire is laid on the conductive surface of the aluminum foil. F/UTP twisted pair is mainly used in class 5, super class 5, and also has applications in class 6. F/UTP shielded twisted pair generally has the following characteristics: the outer diameter is greater than the same class of unshielded twisted pair; Not both sides of aluminum foil are conductive layers, usually only one side is conductive layer; The foil layer is easily torn when there is a gap. Therefore, the following problems should be paid attention to during construction: the aluminum foil layer should be terminated together with the grounding wire to the shielding layer of the shielding module; In order not to leave a gap that can be invaded by electromagnetic waves, the aluminum foil layer should be expanded as far as possible to form a 360-degree all-round contact with the shielding layer of the module. When the conductive surface of the shielding layer is in the inner layer, the aluminum foil layer should be turned over to cover the sheath of the twisted pair wire, and the nylon cable tie attached to the shielding module should be used to fix the twisted pair wire and the metal bracket at the rear of the module into a whole. In this way, after the shielding shell on the cover, whether between the shielding shell and the shielding layer,
There is no gap between the shielding layer and the sheath that electromagnetic waves can invade.
